Adventures in Food: El Salvador

 
Full disclosure: in El Salvador I ate mostly Mexican food. We were only there for two nights and only in hindsight did I realise pupusas are an El Salvadorean thing and I could have had some. I'm not really up on my Latin food and it seems like there is tons of crossover between countries... maybe to cater to gringos...maybe some things I think are Mexican really aren't! Highlights of El Salvador included the above strawberry and watermelon slushie, and the breakfast 'fruit tacos' below. They had a cocoa tortilla (read: pancake) for a base. I'm 100% sure this is not local food but a fun and unique idea nevertheless. On to Nicaragua!
